Next week when I got to school, I heard everyone laughing and smiling at me in my class. I couldn’t figure out of what’s so funny or why everyone was laughing so I asked one my friend and he told me that they heard “Adhira likes me”. I was shocked because I have never thought that Adhira will like me. I mean she is my friend and I like talking to her about everything so why would she do this knowing that I like someone else, specially her best friend. I decided to confront her and ask her if all of this is true.
After few minutes later when she entered in the classroom I saw her sobbing and hiding her tears. Whole class rushed to her and starts to tease her about me. She tried to avoid everyone and looked at me to help her out of this mess. My heart pains seeing her like this but I feel betrayed. I didn’t feel like helping or defending her so I turned my back at her and sat down on my seat. After her few efforts she got to her seat which was just beside mine seat. I could hear her crying and everyone laughing at her. I knew I was wrong behaving so cold towards her but I couldn’t help it. After the bell rang and teacher entered the class room and everyone ran to sit on their seats leaving Adhira crying. She was still having slow sobs and to avoid any more attention from teacher, she went out to clean her face taking permission from the teacher. When she returned to the class, I could see her sad eyes and they were looking at me with a hope in them. I decided to finally ask her about the matter. When she sat beside me I asked her to tell me truthfully of what she really feels for me. I was expecting an obvious answer of admitting her feelings but she looked me my eyes and told me that she sees me only as a friend and of course she likes me because no one has ever treated her the way I treated her.
I was happy listening to her confession and decided to give one more chance to our friendship because not it was true but I also don’t want to lose a friend like her. She understands me, and listens to my weird talk that I feel scared of sharing to anyone. Even though I was popular among students but I never felt open to talk about my feeling to anyone. Suddenly I felt a slap at my back bringing me out of my thoughts. Our teacher was standing behind me and whole class was laughing at me. I smiled at them rubbing my head and apologised for my behaviour. After the bell rang again I decided to have proper conversation with Adhira so I hold her hand and pulled her out in the corridor. I saw whole class hooting and shouting at us. I didn’t give any a fuck of what they were thinking because right now I only want an honest conversation with Adhira. I stopped in front of a water tank and looked at her face, she was scared of what I might say or do about her confession. I looked at her scared face for minute and then begin to laugh at her condition and told her to relax. She was confused with my laugh and shook my hand saying it’s not joke and she is really worried that I might not accept her as friend.
